Business is in a current upheaval.  The world pandemic that we are currently experiencing has caused an uncertainty like no one has seen.  Companies are closing, where some are having surprising success from the rise of racial and economic distress.  How do you encourage employees?  Leaders have to develop strategic plans to train and encourage their teams in the aspects of several areas.  How do you encourage those that feel that you, as a leader, may be part of the problem? Today’s leaders cannot continue in the same way that previous leaders have. Effective leaders would need to learn, adapt, transform, and diversify.

Good leaders adapt several styles to transform and develop their teams.  One of the most effective and positively life-altering styles is transformational leadership.  A great transformational leader would understand the intricacies of racial diversity and organizational culture.  These leaders would then use their knowledge to develop employees that have great communication skills, conflict resolution expertise, empathetic support, and adaptability.

Effective leaders encourage employees through intrinsic motivational methods that allow them to embrace their individuality.  People are traumatized by the current pandemic and several instances of racial and civil unrest throughout the world.  Effective leaders understand that while using idealistic motivational efforts, the entire team, no matter their race or background, will ultimately have a stronger sense of purpose.

Facebook Page Admin Hack Warning

ATTENTION FB PAGE ADMINS:

There is an unknown user hack named "AudienceAds".  Some of you will find that this person has gained access to your Business pages by adding themselves as an advertiser on your page. As of yesterday, there would be an error message when trying to remove the account. Now I can successfully remove them, but they may resurface.  Facebook developers do know of this scam because it has resurfaced several times over the course of three years. 

You will find this addition in the account roles section of your page’s Facebook Business manager.  This hacker has page advertiser access and it seems to be impossible to delete.  As of today, they have re-added themselves to two of the 11 pages that I manage and have accumulated some advertising fees that I will have to pay initially and file a complaint later.  How do you avoid the headache?  No one really knows and it is believed that they are using a hack tool because changing your password simply does not work.  

Note: AudienceAds cannot be seen in the page roles when viewing your account from a mobile device.

The best advice I can give as a Social Media Strategist is, “be diligent and keep your content current.  If you’re using your page often, you will definitely notice if something is off.”

 

Technology's Match Made in Heaven

Media giant, Microsoft and E-commerce innovator, Amazon have announced its newest engagement. Microsoft Cortana and Amazon Alexa will now be able to communicate together. This marriage is hoping to make life easier for its users.

If I were to use a Windows PC, and use Cortana to communicate with Alexa to place an order on Amazon, the task is said to be seamless. We will soon be able to use Alexa to read Microsoft system emails and our calendar by simply using voice technology.

Although with any technological advances, security issues are a major concern, experts believe that with time and strict attention to detail, we will be sharing conversations from our work places to our homes in no time using technology.

This shower head is efficient but not suggested for elderly or people with arthritis. It has an on off switch that is hard to manipulate. The hook for the handheld is stationary which also causes a problem. I would give it a 6 out of 10.

Restful Job Perk That Pays

Many companies are starting to offer perks for employees that consider improving their health.  Some companies are adding mobility workstations to the workflow floor plans. This allows the employee to work while using a treadmill and sometimes, elliptical machine.  Mark Bertolini is the forward-thinking CEO of Aetna who decided to give his employees monetary incentives for simply getting a restful night of sleep.  

The program requirements state that the employee must get seven hours of sleep for at least 20 days in one month.  The hours and sleep patterns are tracked by wearing a Fitbit device.  For every successful 7 hour night of sleep, within the rules and guidelines, the employee earns a bonus of $25.  The company allows each employee to earn up to $500 per year in sleep incentives.  That's a great way to encourage a healthy sleep pattern.  A restful night will allow more focus and attention to detail.  The sleep compensation program is one of the company's most successful and rewarding employee ventures and has caused a significant increase in productivity.  Mr. Bertolini is challenging other companies to follow suit.
