Companies are using our data for marketing purposes without our consent.  The ReKlaim app allows you to take a little control and earn points that you can redeem for cryptocurrency, gift cards, and charitable donations. Once you scan for data, you can opt out of the information that is being shared with sites according to your online data.

How to use the app…

You control what to share by scanning up to 10 ID’s (email addresses and phone numbers). Each week the app provides you with a list of companies that are currently using your data, which you can continue to allow or opt out.  The information that you allow accumulates points which can be redeemed for pay. The app has many different ways to get paid for allowing shared data. You can also refer your friends and earn a percentage of their earnings.  

How much you can expect to earn…

You can expect to get paid up to $5 a week in points, and the more data you allow, the more you can earn. Reklaim doesn’t currently pay cash, but you can convert points for cryptocurrency or gift cards.

Facebook Page Admin Hack Warning

ATTENTION FB PAGE ADMINS:

There is an unknown user hack named "AudienceAds".  Some of you will find that this person has gained access to your Business pages by adding themselves as an advertiser on your page. As of yesterday, there would be an error message when trying to remove the account. Now I can successfully remove them, but they may resurface.  Facebook developers do know of this scam because it has resurfaced several times over the course of three years. 

You will find this addition in the account roles section of your page’s Facebook Business manager.  This hacker has page advertiser access and it seems to be impossible to delete.  As of today, they have re-added themselves to two of the 11 pages that I manage and have accumulated some advertising fees that I will have to pay initially and file a complaint later.  How do you avoid the headache?  No one really knows and it is believed that they are using a hack tool because changing your password simply does not work.  

Note: AudienceAds cannot be seen in the page roles when viewing your account from a mobile device.

The best advice I can give as a Social Media Strategist is, “be diligent and keep your content current.  If you’re using your page often, you will definitely notice if something is off.”

 

Technology's Match Made in Heaven

Media giant, Microsoft and E-commerce innovator, Amazon have announced its newest engagement. Microsoft Cortana and Amazon Alexa will now be able to communicate together. This marriage is hoping to make life easier for its users.

If I were to use a Windows PC, and use Cortana to communicate with Alexa to place an order on Amazon, the task is said to be seamless. We will soon be able to use Alexa to read Microsoft system emails and our calendar by simply using voice technology.

Although with any technological advances, security issues are a major concern, experts believe that with time and strict attention to detail, we will be sharing conversations from our work places to our homes in no time using technology.
